Lawn Bowl Green to Get a Makeover Before Tournament

By JACKIE HOGAN

Cambria Lawn Bowls club will be getting a facelift.  On May 7, the activities begin and will continue for about five days.  The Australian experts in green installation and maintenance will be arriving in town to do some warranty work and repair weather damage. Some parking in front of the Joslyn Center may be affected with equipment and a trash bin.

Installation and repairs to a lawn bowl green can be expensive.  The club has mainly been funded through private bequests from past members, but that is no longer the case.  With help from the Cambria Lions, donations are now tax deductible through the 501 (c) (3) fiduciary account the Pinedorado Lions Foundation has opened to support Cambria Lawn Bowls projects.  Many of the club members have now taken advantage of this great opportunity and would love to thank lawn bowl friends in the Cambria Lions club.  To make a donation, simply write a check to the Pinedorado Lions Foundation and in the memo write Cambria Lawn Bowls Projects.  Donations can be mailed to the Joslyn Center in care of Cambria Lawn Bowls, 950 Main Street, Cambria.

The Lawn Bowls facelift is coming at the perfect time, since the club will be hosting the first of three tournaments this season on June 22 and 23.  The Cambria Open Pairs event is extremely well-attended, and the green will feature some of the best bowlers in the nation who will compete for the largest purse in United States lawn bowls.
