First Baptist Church Plans an Active Summer

It is ramping up to be a busy summer at First Baptist Church (FBC).  The summer kicks off with a Fourth of July BBQ on Sunday, July 3, immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service.  The public is welcome to join FBC members and are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and cookies or bars to share.  FBC provide the beverages, the hot outdoor grill, and some games for everyone to enjoy.  Wearing picnic clothes to the service is acceptable, and space is available in the refrigerators for perishables.

Weekly events are continuing.  Classes for women called “Fit for a Purpose” continue to meet every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. for an hour, and classes rotate among the topics of nutrition, dance and movement, and core and light weight training, with a different leader for each topic.  All women of all levels of fitness are welcome; chairs can be used if needed.  Please bring water and a yoga mat.  All classes are free and there is plenty of parking at FBC.

Sunday morning small groups continue to meet between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. at FBC to study the Thessalonian epistles.  The two the letters found in the New Testament were written by the Apostle Paul to the early Christian churches.  Following the meetings at 10:00 a.m., coffee, tea, and snacks are available before the 10:30 a.m. service.  The groups will not meet July 3 because of picnic preparations.  Several other small groups for men and women are offered at FBC.  Please check with the FBC office for details.

FBC sponsors monthly events, as well.  On the first Monday of every month at 9:30 a.m., join FBC women for “Fill your Cup”–coffee and great conversation held at Lily’s Coffeehouse at 2028 Main Street.  Everyone is welcome, and there is a gift card giveaway.  Because of the July 4 holiday, the July gathering will take place on July 11.  For men, the first Tuesday of every month is when FBC men get together at 6:00 p.m. at FBC for Dinner for Dudes to share a meal and hear a short testimonial.  The next dinner is on July 5.  A $10 donation is requested, as well as a reservation made in advance at the FBC office.

On the first Thursday of every month, join FBC women in fellowship as they cut, sew, sort, and package items for the new mothers and babies served by Memorial Christian Hospital in Bangladesh.  The women meet from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but anyone is welcome to drop in anytime during that time frame.  Over the noon hour, participants bring a sack lunch.  Everyone is welcome to participate in “Busy Bees Sewing” that meets next on July 7.

Visitors are always welcome at FBC, located at the corner of Highway 1 and Ardath Drive.  For additional information on any of these activities, contact the church office by email ( or phone
