The First Baptist Church (FBC) community anticipates a busy fall season. The October highlights will be a “Trail’r-Treat” on Saturday, October 29, a family-friendly event featuring hot dogs, special treats, face painting, games, and a bounce house. The entire community is welcome to participate from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the FBC parking lot.
FBC women continue monthly and weekly events. On the first Monday of every month at 9:30 a.m., FBC women gather at Lily’s Coffeehouse for “Fill your Cup” for great conversation. Everyone is welcome and there is a gift card giveaway. On the last Thursday of the month, FBC women gather for “Busy Bees Sewing” to prepare and package items for new mothers and babies served by Memorial Christian Hospital in Bangladesh. The group meets from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Drop-ins are welcome and are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.
The hour-long “Fit for a Purpose” classes for women are held every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The class rotates among the topics of nutrition; dance and movement; core, stretch and tone; and light weight training. The classes are open to all women of all levels of fitness. Attendees are asked to bring water and a yoga mat. All classes are free, and parking is available.
Weekly youth activities continue with junior high and high school-age kids meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays at FBC. The Youth Collective (a collaborative effort of local evangelical churches) continues to meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Community Presbyterian’s Youth Hut on Burton Way.
Small groups for men, women, and everyone meet weekly. Pastor Josh Lieurance is continuing his message series, “Journey Through the Torah” that explores the roots of Christianity in the first five books of the Old Testament and will run for the rest of the year.
Visitors are always welcome at FBC, located at the corner of Highway 1 and Ardath Drive. FBC continues to stream weekly services on Facebook and on the church website.
