Cambria Pickleball Club Hosted a Round Robin Event

By GREGG WHITFIELD

Recently, Gregg Whitfield organized a pickleball event at the Cambria pickleball courts located behind the Coast Unified School District building at 1350 Main Street.  Thirty-six tournament players gathered to play in groups of Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.  Events like these are popular because players love to play against other players of the same age and skill level in a Round Robin format that focuses on recreational play.  This was the second time an event like this was organized, and it gives anyone interested in the sport of pickleball a chance to see some of the best players play.

For anyone interested in giving this fast-growing sport a try, free lessons are offered on Fridays at 9 a.m. at the pickleball courts. Paddles are available for those who are giving this sport a try for the first time.  Come and give it a try but be warned: Pickleball is very addictive.  For those who are already devoted to the sport but have not yet joined the club, why not come down to the courts and meet the members of the club?  Call Rich Devega at 805-574-0646 or Gregg Whitfield at 805-235-7412 for more information about the club and how to join.
