Rotary’s Fall Happenings Update

By SUE ROBINSON

The first 5K Walk/Run for Polio, held on Saturday, October 14, was a huge success thanks to the 44 community members who came out to walk the Fiscalini Ranch to help end Polio.  Over $6,000 was raised to help continue immunizing children in remote areas without basic healthcare.  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match every dollar raised by Rotary with an additional $2.  That brings the total amount the club raised during this event to $18,000.

Rotary is once again sponsoring a Holiday Wreath and Greenery sale. The folks at Sherwood Forest Farms in the Pacific Northwest do not begin harvesting the greenery for wreaths until the Rotary full order is submitted to ensure optimum conditions for their evergreens.  Rotary Club must get orders in by November to be sure of getting delivery of wreaths and greenery in early December.

Orders can be received until November 7 at: sherwoodfundraiser.com/CambriaRotary2023.  There is an option to have wreaths and greenery sent to family and friends out of town. Wreaths and greenery will be available for pickup in early December.  Notifications will be sent by email for the exact location, date, and times. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Rotary Club of Cambria Foundation’s work to support service projects in the community, the schools, and internationally through Rotary’s Avenues of Service.

A Taste of Cambria sponsored by Rotary will be held on Tuesday, November 7. Over 12 local restaurants will be offering tastes of their signature appetizers, entrees, or desserts.  The event will take place in the parking area of the Sea Chest Restaurant.  Funds raised will go toward refurbishing the Rotary Bandstand at Shamel Park, and for programs for local youth.  Tickets are $50.  For more information on purchasing tickets go to the Rotary Club of Cambria homepage at: portal.clubrunner.ca/2823/.
