The North Coast Advisory Council 2025 meetings have begun with a continued focus on neighborhood-specific fire-preparedness discussions with the Fire Chief, with more information coming in the next few months. This is an issue that affects every resident of this community, and many residents have expressed concern about fire-preparedness.
Other top issues for the NCAC are recent land use recommendations on coastal development; permit applications for home demolitions; developments and expansions located in Happy Hill and Marine Terrace; the replacement of the Stuart Street water tanks; as well as February’s site visit and land use referral points for Cambria’s water reclamation facility.
In addition, the Cambria Community Services District General Manager Matthew McElhenie has been deconstructing some of the most impactful and complicated factors of operating in an unincorporated community faced with both environmental and financial resource restraints, while addressing the CCSD’s ongoing projects, proposals and funding. The NCAC looks forward to continuing discussion with the General Manager on these issues.
The NCAC meeting gives residents access to County governmental decision-makers. Any resident who has a specific concern is welcome to address County representatives during a Public Comment time at the beginning of the NCAC meeting. The representatives are present expressly to address questions about land use, planning, traffic and circulation, public safety, and code enforcement.
County Supervisor Bruce Gibson or a representative from the Supervisor’s office attends every meeting, as well as representatives from Law Enforcement and other County agencies.
Meetings are held on Zoom on the third Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. and the link to the meeting can be found on the NACAC website at: ncacslo.org. Every meeting covers significant issues that affect all residents in this community. For more information about the NCAC, or for information on who the area representatives are and positions open on the NCAC, please go to: outreach@ncacslo.org.
