Supporting Immigrant Families

By ANDREW FEIGIN, STAN COOPER, and KELLY TEEVAN

May 15–For the last several weeks, a caring group of Cambria citizens – early risers holding signs of appreciation and support – have been greeting students, parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and school buses as they arrive at local public schools.  Inspired by a meeting providing information and support for immigrant families that took place at the Coast Union High School library in February, this effort has been ongoing in the hope that this community’s Latino neighbors know they are recognized and respected in their community.
