“We affirm and promote the goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.” This is the Sixth Principle of Unitarian Universalism, upon which the service was based for the Unitarian Universalist Community of Cambria this past Sunday, March 30, and delivered by UUCC member Diane DeMarco.
In her talk, titled “Seeds of Change”, Diane spoke about principled opposition and protest without violence, and how important it is for citizens to be involved and express their beliefs publicly, especially during times when citizens’ freedom of speech is being challenged.
The words of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were quoted: “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter” as well as those of Eleanor Roosevelt: “Do what you feel in your heart to be right—for you’ll be criticized anyway.”
