Salute the Chinese New Year at the Chinese Temple

By WAYNE ATTOE

Join the celebration of the Chinese New Year 2025 – The Year of the Wood Snake!  The event, sponsored by Greenspace, will take place on Sunday, January 26, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Greenspace Creekside Reserve, 2264 Center Street in Cambria’s East Village.

The Cal Poly Lion Dance Team headlines this event along with the reflections on the Early Chinese of the Central Coast by John Seed.  Lion Dance is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture and other Asian countries in which performers mimic a lion’s movements in a lion costume to bring good luck and fortune.

Bring folding chair or blanket for an entertaining and informative hour outside this designated “California Point of Historic Interest.”  Temple tours will be available before and after the presentation.  It is requested that there be no pets, please.  The rain date will be announced soon.
