Cambria Community Chorale Will Feature Music of the Times

By LEONARD KOHOUT

Hello, faithful readers.  As previously revealed in the last article, it is the Cambria Community Chorale’s 35th Anniversary, and the Chorale has been diligently working to perfect its sound.   As the Chorale welcomes this 35th year of sharing music with the community, it is polishing its sound and preparing for the upcoming concerts in May.  The concerts will take place on Saturdays this year, on May 10, and 17, at 2 p.m., at the Community Presbyterian Church of Cambria, 2250 Yorkshire Drive.

One of the songs that truly moves many members, is “Love Never Fails”, based on the New Testament Book of Corinthians 13:1-8.  It brings tears to many who know the true love of another.  The quartet that leads into this exquisite piece is Diane DeMarco, Gail Rose, Loretta Butterfield, and Denee Signorelli.  May I suggest having a tissue or two nearby to wipe the tears away.

The Chorale is not shy about trying new ideas or the refined sound of a classic.  Chorale members all love a ballad and who knew Bob Dylan would make his way into this selection?  Three talented singers,  Debbie Hori, Barb MacDonough, and Kate Perry will harmonize their voices in this piece.  Another fun song everyone knows and loves, is  “Day-O” featuring the amazing voice of Bruce Young singing the woes of banana picking.

The featured piece is a medley from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”.  Michael Green will be the Master of Ceremonies for the opening of this tune.  Chorale members are certain that everyone will enjoy a bit of chant when they perform the beautiful piece, “Sing We and Chant It”.  Moving to many is the song “And So it Goes”, featuring soprano Deb Addis.  Another favorite selection of the Chorale, “Bring Me Little Water, Silvy”.  It is a blues ballad with alto Marci Suvanto performing the solo.  Bringing it all together throughout the program, the narrator is the amazing Steve Dowding.

Tickets are available for the May concerts and are $20 for adults and free for students with an ID.  Tickets also can be purchased online through the Chorale website at: https://cambriachorale.org, or at: My805Tix.com.  This year the Chamber of Commerce (767 Main Street) will be selling tickets.  Tickets may be purchased before the performances on concert day if they are available.  For questions, please email the Chorale at: showtickets@cambriachorale.org.
