New Year, New Events at First Baptist Church

By MARK BERRY

The year 2025 is off to a fast start at First Baptist Church, with the Ministry to Women continuing to offer several events for women this January.  And not to be outdone, the FBC men are bringing back a popular dinner event.

On Saturday, January 18, from 2 to 4 p.m., FBC women will meet for the kick-off event of 2025, “Abide in Him,” when the Ministry to Women will share the theme verses and set the stage for women’s activities planned for the year.  Please contact Kathy Berry at (562) 884-4931 to reserve a place, or for more information.

Other weekly and monthly events continue for women this month as well.  On Friday, January 10, FBC women hold a weekly event called “Body & Soul.”  They meet every Friday at 8:30 a.m. at FBC for a time of devotional encouragement, authenticity, exchanging recipes and ideas, and accountability to personal health goals.

FBC also offers weekly small groups for women and high school girls.  On Thursday, January 30, FBC women gather for fellowship at “Busy Bees Sewing,” as they cut, sew, sort, and package items for the new mothers and babies served by Memorial Christian Hospital in Bangladesh.  They meet from 9 a.m. to noon.  All women in the community are welcome to any of these events.

But men are not being left out at FBC. The FBC men are hosting “Dinner for Dudes” on Tuesday, January 14, from 6 to 8 p.m.  The men of the community are welcome – but please reserve a place to the church office (contact information below) so the volunteer cooking team can plan accordingly.  A donation of $10 is suggested.

Two small groups for men meet; one group meets on Wednesday afternoons and a second group resumes on Tuesday nights after a Christmas hiatus.  A mixed adult small group meets every Sunday at 9 a.m., before the regular 10:30 a.m. service.  This group recently started an in-depth study of the book of Acts, which will continue until Labor Day.

For anyone interested in attending any of these events, or who would like more information, please contact the church office at (805) 927-4789 or at: office@fbccambria.org.  Visitors are always welcome at FBC, located at the corner of Highway 1 and Ardath Drive.  Sunday morning services are held at 10:30 a.m., with refreshments available at 10 a.m.  FBC also continues to stream weekly services on YouTube and on the church website.  For additional information about FBC, please visit the FBC website at: www.fbccambria.org.
