While we would appreciate more rain, for the near term the sun is out, and the weather is clear with no rain in sight. On these lovely days, the six tennis courts at Coast Union High School are in great shape and beckoning tennis players to get out and enjoy the wonderful game of tennis.
Tennis is called a “lifetime sport” because it can be enjoyed by people of all ages, and enhances physical, mental and social health. For residents living here (full or part time) or are visiting this wonderful community and are interested in playing, the Cambria Tennis Club is the best way to get back on the courts.
The CTC was established in 1992 for the overall purpose of supporting and promoting tennis among club members, students at our schools, local residents, and visitors. One of CTC’s responsibilities, pursuant to an agreement with the School District is court maintenance and repair, which the CTC dutifully has fulfilled now for more than 30 years.
For anyone who is a tennis player of any level, or just a fan of tennis, and has not yet joined the CTC, please consider joining. The annual dues are modest — $65 for single or family. Dues go for everything from court resurfacing to new windscreens to help players on a windy day. Students can join for free. To become a patron of the CTC it is $100 per year, or $1,000 lifetime. Members who are renewing can send their dues to the CTC at P.O. Box 1422, Cambria 93428.
For all tennis players (regardless of age or level) who want to get back into the game, consider joining members on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. for drop-in doubles. Everyone gets to play. Alternatively, get in touch with a club member and they will set up a match with a member of the Club. For further information, including a membership application, check out the Club website at: cambriatennisclub.com, or call the Club at: (310) 717-5187.
