Saturday November 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., help plant another 1000 Monterey Pine seedlings at San Simeon State Park just north of Cambria. This annual reforestation project is in collaboration with the California Department of State Parks. Seeing how seedlings planted in recent years expand this native forest is thrilling. Greenspace is approaching the overall goal of 10,000 Monterey pines at the park.
Wear gloves, boots, hat, and sunscreen. Bring shovels if available, and if not, Greenspace has some to share. Refuel with beverages and sandwich bar offering PB&J sandwiches, protein bars, chips, fruit, and cookies.
To sign up for this satisfying time with kindred spirits, email admin@greenspacecambria.org with group size and contact information. Please leave a mobile number as well in case of weather delays. The precise location of the activity and driving instructions will follow closer to planting day. Please call the office at: (805) 927-2866 for more information. All ages are welcome!
Greenspace looks forward to greeting everyone on this year’s single day of planting, and getting the job done in record time. Last year it rained, yet 74 volunteers kept planting and smiling. Greenspace thanks the community for the ongoing support and opportunities to continue to learn about and support the wonders of the local eco-system. May the forest be with you!
