By SAN LUIS OBISPO FIRE SAFE FOCUS GROUP
February 5 Edition
The San Luis Obispo County Community Fire Safe Council is offering free curbside chipping and removal of hazardous vegetation from March 10 through 12 for Cambria residents.
This grant-funded program helps:
–Reduce flammable vegetation in neighborhoods
–Create defensible space around homes
–Lower wildfire risk for the entire community
All work is done by experienced, licensed, and insured contractors.
How It Works: Sign up first to reserve your pick-up here: Chipper Days. Reservations must be made at least 7 days before the event to guarantee service. Create vegetation piles following these simple guidelines:
–Stack branches neatly with cut ends facing the street
–Maximum pile size: 20 feet long by 4 feet wide by 4 feet high
–Branches must be 6 inches in diameter or less
–Place the pile within 5 feet of the road
–Keep it at least 10 feet away from utility poles and fire hydrants
–Make sure the pile is clearly visible from the road
–Get more details at https://firesafeslo.org/chipping/
We take it from there: Your pile gets chipped and hauled away at no cost.
Ready to Get Started? Nearly 50 Cambrians took part in last year’s event. Count yourself among them this year.
Funding is provided by the State of California to the San Luis Obispo County Community Fire Safe Council to help protect this community. Do your part, protect your home, and take advantage of this free service.
