It is shaping up to be a very busy Christmas season at First Baptist Church. Starting December 1, FBC once again will be celebrating the four Sundays of Advent. Advent is a season of anticipation as Christians look back at the fulfillment of prophecy in the coming of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Each of the four weeks of Advent involves exploring a different Christmas theme. Over the four Sundays Pastor Josh Lieurance will explore the Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. The fourth Advent candle will be lit on Sunday, December 22. Christmas Eve falls on a Tuesday this year, and FBC plans a special candlelight worship service for that evening, December 24, at 6 p.m.
There will be much more going on at FBC in December. FBC women will continue their on-going monthly and weekly events. The first Monday of every month (this month December 2) at 9:30 a.m., FBC women gather at Sandy’s Deli for “Fill your Cup”, a time for coffee and great conversation. All women are welcome and there is a gift card giveaway. On Friday, December 6, the FBC women continue the weekly event called “Body & Soul.” They meet every Friday at 8:30 a.m. at FBC for a time of devotional encouragement, authenticity, exchanging recipes and ideas, and accountability to personal health goals.
FBC has several on-going small groups, including Tuesday mornings and evenings for women; Tuesday evenings and Wednesday afternoons for men; a Thursday afternoon mentoring group for high school girls; and small groups open to anyone that meet every Sunday at 9 a.m., before the regular 10:30 service.
For more information about attending these events, please contact the church office at: (805) 927-4789 or at: office@fbccambria.org. Visitors are always welcome at FBC, located at the corner of Highway 1 and Ardath Drive. Sunday morning services are held at 10:30 a.m., with refreshments available at 10:00 a.m. FBC also continues to stream weekly services on YouTube and on the church website.
