First Baptist Church Takes Activities Outdoors

By MARK BERRY

May 15–This month First Baptist Church continues offering opportunities to make connections in fun, outdoor settings.  On Sunday, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m., all are welcome to join a “beach day” at W.R. Hearst State Beach, with the option to hike out to the point.  FBC inaugurated these outdoor meet-up events last month with a bike ride from Shamel Park to Lampton Park and back, topped off with a treat of S’mores at the end of the ride.

The last monthly event for May, dubbed “group project day”, will be on May 29, when volunteers from the church spend the morning tending to projects around the property, while others cut, sew, sort, and package items for the new mothers and babies served by Memorial Christian Hospital in Bangladesh.  They meet from 9 a.m. to noon.

Turning to weekly events, on Fridays, the FBC women meet for “Body & Soul”, every Friday at 8:30 a.m. at FBC for a time of devotional encouragement, authenticity, exchanging of recipes and ideas, and accountability to personal health goals.  FBC has several on-going small groups that meet weekly, including Tuesday mornings and evenings for women; Tuesday evenings and Wednesday afternoons for men; and a Thursday evening mentoring group for high school girls. In addition, there is a mixed adult small group that meets every Sunday at 9 a.m., before the regular 10:30 a.m. service.  This group recently is continuing an in-depth study of the Book of Acts and will continue until Labor Day.

For anyone interested in attending any of these events, or for more information, contact the church office at (805) 927-4789 or: office@fbccambria.org.  Visitors are welcome at FBC, located at the corner of Highway 1 and Ardath Drive.  Sunday services are held at 10:30 a.m., with refreshments available at 10 a.m.  Kid’s Church is available.  FBC continues to stream weekly services on YouTube and on the church website.  For information about FBC, please visit the FBC website at: www.fbccambria.org.
