Family Fiesta Taco Night at Cambria Grammar School

By AGATHA DIEPENBOCK

The Cambria Grammar School Parent Teacher Association hosted Family Fiesta Taco Night held on the Grammar School campus campus last Friday, September 15. Nearly 300 people attended and over 750 tacos were served.  This well loved, annual school fundraising event celebrates the community’s wonderful Hispanic community along with family, neighbors, and school friends.

The PTA took the event to the next level this year with authentic festive decorations and folk dance entertainment by Ballet Folklorico Tradiciones de mi Tierra.  Restaurants and businesses from around town generously donated food for this event, including The Cookie Crock, Medusas, Boni’s Tacos, Las Cambritas, The Lion’s Club, and Better Organics Farm, along with the event sponsor, the Cambria Rotary Club.

A unique raffle really got the kids rolling! Juli Amodei with Skate Cambria, Greg Killick well loved community member, and Nancy Calvillo former teacher donated amazing prizes like Razor Scooters, Skateboards, Electric Scooters, and even a Fat Tire Trail Bicycle all with new helmets and Skate Cambria swag.

Caring volunteers showed up to help, from teachers to district members, to parents, to elementary school kids, and even high schoolers from Coast Union High School’s Interact Club.  All proceeds go directly back into Cambria Grammar School, funding educational extras like field trips, science camp, the Scholastic Book Fair, and student incentives to name a few.  It was heart-warming in this small community to see how many hands reached out to support this culturally significant school event.  To all the wonderful volunteers, donors, and supporters, thank you, muchas gracias.
