Come One, Come All to the 17th Annual Harvest Festival

By CONSUELO MACEDO

What a lineup for the 17th Annual Harvest Festival at the Cambria Historical Museum! On Saturday, October 12, everyone is invited to join in the fun from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the Cambria Historical Society presents a vast array of crafts, vendors, and family activities on the museum grounds.

CHS is delighted to extend a hearty welcome to Ballet Folklorico, who will perform for an hour in our backyard entertainment area beginning at noon, before a repeat performance by Bob Benjamin and his Traveling Light Band.

The public is invited to enjoy the 2nd Annual Soup Tasting of a flight of five soups from a stellar lineup of popular restaurants: Brydge, Madeline’s, Mezzo Italiano, The Spot, and Sandy’s Sandwich Shop.  The $10 fee includes a chance at some great prizes.

Be sure to include a stop by the work in progress on the 1800s jailhouse, recently restored to its original site at Center and Bridge Streets.  Across from the museum grounds, Greenspace will be open for visitors.

In the Heirloom Gardens, CHS is proud to display the scarecrows crafted by members. And wow! A new vignette of children playing is located in front of the 1881Schoolhouse, situated to welcome everyone at the Main Street entrance to the village.

Thanks go to all our major donors, grant writers, and volunteers who sustain CHS’s community achievements.  The proceeds from the Harvest Festival will help support the Society’s four properties.

Congratulations to the Community Presbyterian Church, who recently celebrated their sesquicentennial, 150 years since being established in 1874, when it was located on Bridge Street. Currently the church is located on Lodge Hill.

Cambrians can justly be proud of their history, and members of the Cambria Historical Society are happy to convey this heritage.  CHS has a story to tell, and would like the community to join in: cambriahistoricalsociety.com
