Christmas came early to the Cambria Historical Society, when a generous check arrived from a major benefactor. CHS is also sustained for all current projects large and small by its two annual events; by the grants for CHS has applied to; and by donations specified by other non-profits, such as Cambria Community Council, Cambria Rotary, and by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, who provided the “fairy lights” on the Port Orford Cypress on Center Street. This tree has been Cambria’s Official Christmas Tree for more than twenty years.
Local support is also engendered by annual membership dues, so renewal reminders are in the mail. CHS also benefits from museum admission fees and sales in the bookstore. There are many gift items for visitors to pick up for holiday giving to folks of all ages. The bookstore is the best source for historical materials and books by local authors. Check out what is available as the museum is open with experienced docents on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
CHS is excited to again have a major role in Cambria’s Holiday Night Festivities on Friday, December 6, beginning at 5 p.m., when the Chamber of Commerce will provide locals with hot cocoa as they mingle in the front yard. Santa will arrive about 5:30 p.m. to illuminate the Christmas Tree and remain with Mrs. Claus for photos with children and families. CHS are proud to add that Santa is bilingual!
At this time, the CHS Board wishes to acknowledge volunteers and supporters, as all are the gifts that keep on giving to this community. CHS appreciates the time and effort contributed to its mission. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Holiday Season!
