Camp Ocean Pines to Hold a Legacy Dinner Celebration

BY ANDREW BOYD-GOODRICH

Please join Camp Ocean Pines on Saturday, December 7 for the annual Legacy Dinner fundraiser.  With dinner provided by Madeline’s Restaurant, wines provided by Justin Vineyards & Winery, and dessert from Negranti Creamery, it will be a wonderful way to celebrate the magic of Camp.  The evening includes a raffle and auction, with all proceeds supporting life-changing programs for kids and families.

Camp Ocean Pines changes lives.  Since 1946, Camp Ocean Pines has been a kid’s first tie-dye, a teen’s first time at the beach, a family’s first song around a campfire.  The Legacy Dinner celebrates the past, present, and future of Camp Ocean Pines.  This year, help celebrate the special Legacy honorees, Chris and Rosemay Cameron, and the California Sculptors Symposium.

Chris and Rosemay Cameron are a true power couple and made Camp Ocean Pines what it is today.  Chris was Camp’s Executive Director beginning in 2002, and his life and work partner Rosemay came on as Director of Finance and Human Resources a year later.  Together they transformed the Camp: reinvigorating old programs and adding new ones, restoring financial strength and community profile, and quite literally rebuilding so much of the Camp’s facilities. Chris and Rosemay retired from Camp in 2018, yet so much of their legacy lives on.

One of the programs that Chris and Rosemay helped start at Camp was the California Sculptors Symposium.  Since 2003, California Sculptors Symposium has held a weeklong experience here at Camp, bringing together students, artists, and educators to create artworks in clay, stone, fiber, and wood.  Beyond the many people who have experienced CSS first-hand over the 20-plus years, their aesthetic impact on Camp continues: beautiful pieces created here can be found around the property, including a dramatic sea turtle sculpture that greets visitors as they first drive into Camp.  Learn more about CSS at: californiasculptorssymposium.org/.

Help honor Chris and Rosemary Cameron and the California Sculptors Symposium at the Legacy Dinner on December 7.  Toast the magical impact of Camp Ocean Pines.  Tickets and sponsorship information are available at: campoceanpines.org/legacy-dinner.
