Cambria Rotary’s 5K Walk/Run for Polio

By SUE ROBINSON

Please join Cambria Rotary members on Saturday, October 19, for the Rotary’s 5K Walk/Run for Polio.  Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Fiscalini Ranch Trail while making a tangible impact on the lives of children worldwide.

The threat of polio is rising fast in the Gaza Strip, prompting aid groups to call for an urgent pause in the war so they can ramp up vaccinations and head off a full-blown outbreak.  The virus was detected in wastewater in six different locations in July. On August 16, the Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the first case of polio in an unvaccinated 10-month-old child in Gaza.  Sadly, that child is now paralyzed.  The importance of protecting innocent lives cannot be overstated.  It is more important than ever that the world ends polio now.  Please join Cambria Rotary to Walk/Run for those who cannot, especially those children in Gaza who have already endured so much.

Lace up those sneakers and embark on an unforgettable journey along the picturesque Pacific Ocean. This event presents a golden opportunity to contribute to the fight against polio, a disease that continues to disrupt the lives of children not only in Gaza, but in various corners of the globe.  As runners and walkers traverse the trail, their steps will echo a message of hope and progress for those affected by this debilitating illness.

Participation, either as a leisurely stroll or as a sprint to the finish line, will send ripples of change resonating across communities.  United, the eradication of polio is possible, paving the way for healthier futures for countless children. So, mark the calendar, gear up, and be prepared to be immersed in the natural grandeur surrounding the Fiscalini Ranch Trail, all while being part of a global movement striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of little ones.  To register for the event, to sponsor a walker/runner or to donate, go to: paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=AVYG4GAG29N6S.
