Advent Season Culminates on Christmas Eve at First Baptist Church

By MARK BERRY

First Baptist Church will close out the Advent season with the lighting of the fourth Advent candle, the Love candle on December 22, and then light the Jesus candle on Christmas Eve. Advent, meaning arrival or coming, is a season of anticipation as Christians look back at the fulfillment of prophecy in the coming of the Savior, Jesus Christ, and look ahead to His return as King of King and Lord of Lords.  Each of the four weeks of Advent focuses on a different Christian concept: hope, peace, joy, and love.

On Sunday, December 22, the last Sunday of Advent, Pastor Josh Lieurance will explore the Advent theme of Love in his message series entitled “unBELIEVable.”  The theme also will be reflected in the music, as the FBC worship team leads the congregation in Advent hymns and worship songs.  Christmas Eve falls on a Tuesday this year, and FBC plans a special candlelight worship service at 6 p.m. that evening during which the white candle will be lit, representing Jesus.

For anyone interested in attending any of these events or would like more information, please contact the church office at (805) 927-4789 or office@fbccambria.org.  Visitors are always welcome at FBC, located at the corner of Highway 1 and Ardath Drive.  Sunday morning services are held at 10:30 a.m., with refreshments available at 10:00 a.m.  Kids are welcome at FBC and are invited to their own special program during the service.  FBC continues to stream weekly services on YouTube and on the church website.  For additional information about FBC please visit the FBC website at: fbccambria.org.
