A Cambria Film Festival Art & Wine Festival Special Event

By LILLIANA MONTERO PLUMMER and JEFF PLUMMER

As part of the Cambria Art & Wine Festival, the Cambria Film Festival is presenting the documentary, “Harvest Calls” on Saturday, January 25.  The evening begins with a complimentary wine reception at 6 p.m. sponsored by the winery featured in the film, Claiborne & Churchill Winery, followed by a screening of the award-winning film “Harvest Calls”.

The film chronicles local composer Brook Munro’s endeavor to produce his album, “Harvest in Twelve Parts.”  The album offers a sonically immersive experience, blending rich instrumentation with the sounds of harvest, including grapes being juiced and birds chirping in the vineyard.

Undergoing his biggest challenge yet, Munro embarks on a journey to create a free-form instrumental album utilizing and inspired by natural sounds from a wine harvest.  Collaborating with fellow artists and musicians across the Central Coast, Harvest Calls is an exciting journey of artistic expression and reveals how creativity, art, and music can be found everywhere by opening ourselves to the possibilities of it.

The film is directed by Kyle Plummer and produced by Brook Munro.  The screening will be followed by a Q & A with Brook and Director Kyle Plummer, plus a live interactive audience participation event in which Brook will share the techniques he uses to create free form music with non-traditional “instruments”.  Tickets for the event are available at: “Harvest Calls” Screening and Live Performance Event | My805Tix.

Also, this is a reminder that the Cambria Film Festival passes are available now at: Passes.  The Cambria Film Festival will take place February 5 through 9.  The Cambria Center for the Arts is located at 1350 Main Street.
