The Great Jazz Pianist Series Continues with Marshall Otwell

On Sunday, October 13 the Famous Jazz Artist Series will feature pianist Marshall Otwell at the Woodlawn Concert Hall (formerly Painted Sky Recording Studio, 714 Main Street) from 5 to 7 p.m.  

     Otwell grew up in a musical family.  After several years attending Princeton, he headed to Los Angeles to establish himself as a performer.  He has recorded albums and performed with many of the world’s best-known jazz musicians including Carmen McRae.  Marshall also spent many years as a software developer, ascending the leadership ranks in a number of companies. He retired as president of his own firm in 2006.

     Today, Marshall manages a private musical consulting and performance business.  He is a jazz piano instructor at Cuesta College and lives in Los Osos with his wife Laura.  He will perform solo while featuring a few duets with series producers Charlie and Sandi Shoemake on vibes and vocals.  Refreshments will be available for purchase.
