On the tails of the hugely successful “Fly Away Home” exhibit, the Gallery committee of the Cambria Center for the Arts is delighted to announce its next presentation. The first spring show of the year called, “Inside the Studio; Outside on Location,” will be held at the CCA gallery from March 3 through April 26, and will feature the vibrant work of part-time Cambria resident Art Sherwyn.
An artist reception and opening will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. As always, entertainment and homemade treats will be provided at the reception, and wine will be available for sale.
Featured artist Art Sherwyn has been in constant exploration for over 40 years. Whether in his studio or in nature, he enjoys pushing the boundaries of playful form and creative expression. Using techniques that depend on the setting, Art finds that his outside work sharpens his observational skills and awareness of the subtle changes made by color and light, while his inside, studio practice allows him to experiment – reinterpreting or reinventing what he has seen in the natural world.
A celebrated high school art teacher, Art has received some of the highest honors in art education. His passion for truth, beauty, and creative expression has fueled his interest in inspiring and connecting with other artists, and his expertise has led to invitations to speak at local, state, and national conferences on the topics of art, education and leadership. He is in continual search for the “Aha!” moment.
In addition to creating his own art, Mr. Sherwyn offers dynamic workshops, retreats, and public lectures through which he inspires participants to embrace new challenges to achieve success, while breaking away from conventional expectations. His exhilarating interpretations of life and landscape can be found in many public and private collections around the world.
The CCA gallery is open from noon to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays. It is located at 1350 Main Street.
