Arthur Van Rhyn fans and those yet to be enchanted by his artwork and crafts, take heart. His works are available for sale at two Cambria retail shops, Monarch Gallery in the West Village and the Gallery of Wearable Art in the East Village.
West Village
Natalie Mark of Monarch Gallery has Van Rhyn water colors in several sizes, large oils and acrylics, pottery and glassware, at various prices. “I like Arthur’s dramatic trees, and his doodle quality,” she said. “There’s a sense that something’s going on.” She also has two Nehemiah Persoff artworks, another local celebrity artist.
Minor Van Rhyn works are in the Pay What You Want box. Proceeds from those go to support Natalie’s Food Bank. She established the Food Bank in 2025 in response to local needs. Food and cash donations are welcome. Contact her, in person or by text, to refer those who need food assistance.
Natalie has been in retail sales in Cambria since she helped her mother Leslie Mark run her shop, Froggies. She sold Froggies in 2009 to Norma Casas. Ms. Mark assists her daughter in operating Monarch Gallery. Monarch Gallery 755 Main St., Unit B, next to the Cambria Coffee Roasting Company. Phone: 805-395-0560.
East Village
At the Gallery of Wearable Art, GOWA, Dinah and Christopher Lee reproduce a Van Rhyn painting of the gallery building for their business cards. They own the original and have copies for sale. They have Van Rhyn watercolors ($125) and pottery for sale. “It’s important that it’s a ’curated’ show of Art Van Ryan’s work,” Christopher Lee said in a text. “We have a dozen of his original paintings on wood panels, 36 original watercolors, and a collection of hand-blown vases, carefully picked out and curated by GOWA.”
The Lees had a successful career in clothing design and manufacturing and now enjoy repurposing single garments with artistic flourishes. They are adding an art gallery to the clothing shop, where the Van Rhyn art is on display. GOWA, is located at 4009 West Street, down the street from Robin’s Restaurant. The phone number is: 805-927-1005, and the website is: gowacambria.com
