May 1–Cambria’s dream of a new skatepark just took a big step forward!
The “Cap the Gap – Picnic for the Park” fundraiser, hosted by Skate Cambria on April 27, at Parr Collective at Stolo Vineyards, brought the community together for an afternoon of live music, local food, and generous giving—all in support of getting the long-awaited Cambria Skatepark project across the finish line. The event raised more than $12,500 toward the park’s funding.
The timing couldn’t have been better. Just days before the event, the Cambria Community Services District Board of Directors held a Special Meeting to review construction cost estimates. In a key decision, the Board voted to discard the highest estimate provided by Cannon Engineering and instead use an average of the remaining estimates, plus a 12.5 percent contingency. The result: a clearer, more realistic funding target—and a final hurdle of $329,000 that must be raised before the project can be put out for bid.
This figure, while significant, is far from insurmountable—especially with community momentum building. Skate Cambria is now launching a new campaign: the $100 Challenge. The goal is simple but powerful: 1,500 people donating $100 each, raising $150,000 to cut the remaining gap nearly in half. Combined with ongoing efforts to secure business sponsorships, this campaign could be the key to breaking ground.
Skate Cambria is calling on residents, businesses, and skatepark supporters far and wide to take the $100 Challenge, spread the word, and help finish what the community started. Donations can be made online, and those interested in becoming park sponsors can reach out directly through the organization’s website.

Tax-deductible donations may be made directly to Cambria Community Council, the fiscal agent, by check or with PayPal, debit, or credit card. Let’s cap the gap and make the Cambria Skatepark a reality.
