American Legion Post 432 Leads Community in Veterans Day Ceremony

On Veterans Day, November 11, the American Legion Post 432 of Cambria arranged an 11:00 a.m. public ceremonial gathering outside at the Flag Memorial on the corner of Main Street and Cambria Drive.

Brian Griffin served as Chaplain and offered the invocation and benediction. He also spoke in remembrance of the 13 veterans who gave their lives when a terrorist bomb killed them during the evacuation of Afghanistan.

The special guest speaker was County District Attorney Dan Dow who also is a lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard.  He addressed in particular the importance of veterans in American society and the need to reduce the rate of veteran suicides.

As the Marine Corps is celebrating its 246th birthday, the three newest Post 432 members—all Marines—were given special recognition:  Boyd Hogan, Tom McMillen, and Butch Frame.  The Sons of the American Legion provided a hot dog and hamburger BBQ following the ceremony.
