The University Women of Cambria (UWC) currently is holding its yearly fundraiser, the Handmade and Local Scholarship Auction, ongoing until Friday, November 18.  This fundraiser is critical, because it generates the revenue that the UWC needs to fund scholarships for local students.

Everyone is encouraged to visit the auction site and bid on the many donated items.  Look for the link to the auction site at the top of the UWC website at:  universitywomencambria.com.  All proceeds go to scholarships for Coast Union High School and Leffingwell High School seniors. Scholarships for local students who have gone back to school to finish programs or degrees also are supported by the auction.  Join with UWC in helping local students embark on and continue their journey in higher education.

The UWC has been busy this fall meeting and greeting new members and enjoying the fall events.  The evening at Stolo’s Winery in September was a great opportunity to meet after the summer break, and the group has many new members to help UWC on its mission.  The October meeting included a visit to the Elephant Seal rookery with an informative talk given by Stephen Beck, and a picnic lunch was enjoyed at Shamel Park afterwards.  The November meeting was held this week at the Presbyterian Church with a presentation by former Cambria Fire Chief Bob Putney on the local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) group and its role in the community.

UWC is open to anyone interested in its mission.  More information and a membership form can be found on the UWC website at:  universitywomencambria.com/become-a-member.
