Pictures are worth a thousand words!  El Pinal Parlor No. 163, Native Daughters of the Golden West (NDGW) experienced huge success with the 2022 Make and Bake Enchilada Sale.  The sale garnered about $2,000 in sales and $1,000 in donations for their NDGW Scholarship Fund.

Fun Facts for what it took to produce about 1,000 enchiladas:  50 pounds of grated cheddar, 1,000 corn tortillas, 6 gallons of chili sauce, 2 gallons of oil, 10 pounds of chopped white onions, 1 gallon of sliced black olives, fresh green onions, and sundry other items. Many hands made light work, and the ladies report having a great time doing the labor of love.

Annual NDGW membership through the local El Pinal Parlor remains at $50.00 with a small initiation fee and is open to any woman born in California who will commit to the ideals of the organization (see ndgw.org).  Applications are available from the local president Anne Bennett (805-927-2652) or any member.  The term Parlor is used to refer to each NDGW chapter, since it began in 1886 when members actually met in the parlor in their homes.  The El Pinal Parlor was established in 1908.
