The Famous Jazz Artist Series continues at Painted Sky Studio on Sunday, July 10,at 5:00 p.m.  Producers Charlie and Sandi Shoemake are bringing consummate jazz and funk artist Thom Ranier to perform his stylings on Painted Sky’s nine-foot, concert-hall Grand Piano.  Charlie Shoemake will be on the vibes and Sandi Shoemake on vocals.  Painted Sky is located at 715 Main Street.

    Tom became a full-time studio player in 1985.  He has worked on television shows such as “Moonlighting,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Star Trek: Enterprise,” and “Family Guy,” and on films including “Forest Gump,” “Ted,” and “Frozen.”  He recorded and toured with Barbra Streisand for her millennium concert series and is frequently a member of the Academy Awards orchestra. 

     From 2005 to 2013, Tom was a keyboardist and an arranger for the television show “Dancing with the Stars.”  He has been a full-time member of the orchestra for “The Simpsons” since 2011.  Since 2015, Tom has played piano for Seth MacFarlane.  From 2017 to 2019 he was musical director/pianist for Tony Bennett.

     Throughout his studio career, Tom has continued to play and record jazz.  In 1997, he recorded his third album “In the Still of the Night.”  In 2017, “In the Still of the Night” was remastered for its 20th anniversary.  In 2020, Tom released “This Way,” an album of primarily original music orchestrated for piano, keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, and woodwinds.  Tickets for the concert are $25 per person and may be reserved phone (805-935-9007) or email (charlie@talsanmusic.com).  Light refreshments will be available for purchase at the venue.
