Cambria American Legion Post 432 will again be sponsoring the Fourth of July “Picnic in the Park” after a two-year break due to Covid-19.  The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Shamel Park with a patriotic opening ceremony and will be followed by a day of kids’ games and bounce house, face painting, music, food, and drinks.  A pie-eating contest and the restaurant server tray race will be held.  The County Parks Department will open the swimming pool and will be available all day.  A professional fireworks spectacular starts about 9:15 p.m. to conclude the event.

A trolley will be running from Main Street to the park all day with parking available at the Veterans’ Memorial Hall parking lot, one of the trolley stops.  Highway Patrol officers, County Sheriff deputies, and local EMTs will be in the area to keep everyone safe.

The cost of putting on the fireworks display exceeds $20,000 and the American Legion relies on community support to help offset this cost.  To offset a portion of the event cost, prize tickets will be sold to provide community support.  The drawing of prize-winning tickets will be ongoing throughout the day with a Grand Prize of $1000 in cash and second prize of an iPad.  Please help support the event by participating in the drawings, by donating to the cans located at various merchants around town, or by directly donating via credit card or PayPal at the American Legion Post 432 website (legionpost432.com) to secure sponsorship recognition.
