Seven-string guitarist Ron Escheté together with bassist Luther Hughes will join the Famous Jazz Artist Series producers vibraphonist Charlie and vocalist Sandi Shoemake for two performances on Sunday, May 22, at The Harmony Café (824 Main Street). The matinée will start at 3:00 p.m. and the evening performance at 5:00 p.m.
An educator since the early 1970s, Ron Escheté has performed with the likes of Ray Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Milt Jackson, and Diana Krall. Bassist Luther Hughes has played with some of the biggest names in jazz in a career spanning over 40 years, including jazz legends Gene Harris, Mundell Lowe, Joe Henderson, Carmen MacRae, Horace Silver, Joe Pass, Louis Bellson, Hampton Hawes, Herb Geller, Diana Krall, and Michael Feinstein.
Tickets for each performance are $25 with an additional food and beverage minimum of $10. Reservations are a must, judging from the sellout crowd who enjoyed the May 8 tribute to the music of Cole Porter. Call (805-935-9007) or e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) early to assure a seat.
