Without the support of the wonderful members of this community, we could not fund the many projects Cambria Rotary takes on each year. Locally, we sent a $250 donation to the American Legion Post 432 to purchase gift cards for local service men and women currently serving overseas. We also sent a $500 donation to the SLO Food Bank which, because of inflation, is struggling to provide holiday food for families in need. We funded 11 scholarships for local high school students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, an intensive experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where young people can develop leadership skills while having fun and making connections.
Internationally, we have funded over $5,000 to provide oxygen to patients in India hit hard by the pandemic, $1,000 to Shelter Box, an organization that supplies emergency disaster relief, and provided scholarships for two high school students to attend Grace Center in Zambia. The Center helps young women at risk for sexual exploitation and early marriage by training them in vocations where they can find employment, such as computer work, tailoring, and food preparation. A long list of projects remains which we will be working to fund in the coming months. Without your support, many of these efforts would not be possible.
